A Family Story

MT Fondations is a formwork and house foundation company that began operations in January 2023. The owners are Martin Gaumond and Thomas Gaumond, father and son.   With some twenty years’ experience in the field, Martin knows the ins and outs of the business and has many contacts in the industry. Passionate about his craft, he is more than happy to pass on all his knowledge to his son, so that one day, he can fully take over the business. 

A busy first year

The two entrepreneurs are very pleased with the results of their first year in business, having laid almost 90 foundations. Their product is of impeccable quality and is delivered within a reasonable time frame, without delays. To achieve this, they rely on their excellent relationships with their suppliers, who are always there for them, a rarity for a company less than one year old.

«One of the benefits of my 20 years in the business is having all these great contacts. Our greatest asset is our five employees. Without them, the work wouldn’t get done so well, and we take good care of them so that they choose to stay with us,» says Martin.

Start-up financing: an extreme challenge

To build such a business, the father and son first had to buy equipment and trucks. They knocked on several doors, only to be turned away again and again, as the company didn’t yet exist. When they met with CAE, they were delighted to discover that at last, an organization had confidence in them. As a result, they were able to buy equipment and ensure they had good working capital to pay their suppliers.

MT Fondations builds both footings and foundation walls. They cover quite a vast territory, from Laval to Mont-Tremblant and from Brownsburg-Chatham to Sainte-Julienne.
